Hip replacement surgery involves replacement of the hip joint with an artificial joint. The artificial joint is made of ceramic, metal, or plastic material. The material used in the replacement is very strong so that they can last for a long time.

1. Who is a good candidate for the surgery?

You need to get the hip replacement if you have persistent pain while you are doing regular activities. It means you are a good candidate for the surgery. But it will be best if you consult your physician regarding the treatment.

2. How long does the surgery take?

The hip replacement surgery takes 3 hours. This will include the time taken by the staff to prepare for the surgery. Your doctor will discuss everything with you in detail.

3. Can I go home after the surgery?

After the surgery, you have to stay in the hospital for 4 to 5 days. If the patient is recovering fast you don’t have to stay long. If the patient needs more time then other options are also available.

4. Is there any risk in the surgery?

Age is not the factor in hip replacement surgery. If are involved in the productive activity and good health then you can consider this option. Your physician will let you know the details properly.

8. How much change can I notice?

After the hip replacement, in the first few weeks, you will notice improved mobility and decrease pain in the joints. If you are working according to the doctor then your physical condition will get better very soon. For fast recovery, you should follow the instructions properly whether it is before or after the surgery.
