Types of Arthritis

Diagnosing the form of arthritis is the foundation for arthritis treatment in India. Ascertaining the extent of damage is another crucial step that can also be done by the orthopedic doctor. Some of the arthritis types include;

Degenerative Arthritis
Also known as Osteoarthritis, it is the most common type of arthritis that occurs when the cartilage wears away, causing the bones to rub on each other. This results in pain, a burning sensation, swelling, and stiffness

Inflammatory Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis and Psoriatic arthritis are the commonest forms of inflammatory arthritis that occurs because of a poor immune system. A healthy immune system is necessary for protecting your body and internal organs from infections and diseases, but in case of any issue, the immune system can turn against itself and the joints.
This type of arthritis is believed to be triggered by environmental factors like smoking and genetics

Metabolic Arthritis
This type of arthritis is associated with the high levels of uric acid in the body. Uric acid is produced as the body breaks down purines, a substance common in the most types of food we eat and also present in human cells. Low levels of uric acid can easily be eliminated from the body, but cases where an individual naturally produces high levels of uric acid, this is hard. As a result, needle-like crystals in the joint are formed resulting in sudden spikes of extreme joint pain or a gout attack.

Infectious Arthritis
This occurs when a bacterium, fungus, or virus enters the joint resulting in an inflammation. Also, it can be triggered by sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia and gonorrhea.

Treatment of Arthritis & Cost

Arthritis can be treated by various options categorized as surgical and non-surgical treatments. In case arthritis is becoming intolerable, a knee or joint replacement surgery can be done, however, this requires a high arthritis treatment cost in India.
Other home remedies like using cold compresses, avoiding dangerous activities and maintaining a proper lifestyle can ease arthritis.
